That's great work by the Phantom Permit Painter, hopefully those crowding the non-permit bays will get the message.
It occurred to me the other day, why are those ground anchors positioned for the back wheel, in the gutter? Why not install them in the part of the bay nearest the crown of the road; thus keeping them out of the gutter where all the crap collects ?
Possibly a trip-hazard I suppose..

There was nothing on the pavement to indicate these were permit only bays..

Unless I am mistaken, then these RBKC (Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea) motorcycle bays with the ground anchors in them must be Resident ONLY motorcycle bays, and in order to use them, you have to have a RBKC Residents' Permit for your motorcycle, for which there IS a cost! Non-Residents are not allowed to use these bays, although they can park for free (IF they can find a space) in the other "visitor" bays - the ones without the ground anchors. Trouble is, there are far too many of the Resident / ground anchor bays, and too few of the free "visitor" ones, and the vistor ones get packed, whilst the Resident ones remain almost empty. Whilst RBKC have been SAYING they will look at this and somehow re-allocating or proving more "visitor" bays, they have now been saying that for at least as long as the Westminster scheme has been running - so, 18 months - but still no change!? Still better than Westminster, but ..

Did someone mention transferring our efforts elsewhere once we finish off WCC?

By the way, I love your latest post, it is very well written. We really have a problem in Kensington & Chelsea now as it is almost impossible to park there if you are not a resident. And even if you are a resident, it's difficult too, because the fact that the resident bays are empty clearly shows a strong opposition to pay for parking, even with security devices installed in the bays. The result is that bikers use the free visitor bays which have limited capacity and cannot meet demand. I see their scheme as another way of stealth taxing motorcyclists for parking. The council has installed security devices that are highly unpopular and uses them as an excuse for charging. They keep saying that they will review the situation soon but they have been saying this for about 18 months, so they are clearly taking the piss. They need the campaign to come their way... Once WCC is done, there's some stuff we need to sort out in Kensington & Chelsea... and I can see that some individuals have already started by "upgrading" their bays...

at the last PIP meeting, the RBKC councillor said they would "review" the situation regarding the permits only bays, I wonder what that means and how long it will thake them to notice that the permits only bays are not used, not wanted, not popular. It would only take any normal human being a couple of hours of driving round the bays to see the obvious !

It's really not about what's logical with politicians, they will go where the money is.
There must be riders in K&C who are pissed off enough to want to take some action, we have built up a great knowledge base of what hurts them, all they have to do is a Google search and they will find us.
K&C need some attention, but we need some angry residents to come forward.

This is very true. In the case of http://ukfrancebikers.com/ we get a lot of people visiting our site as a result of a google search or whatever other search engines they use. Readership of our blog has soared over the past few weeks, it's just unbelievable. There's obviously a lot of interest in this bike parking tax. The funny thing is that quite a few people land on our site when they search something totally unrelated to the bike parking tax. They type in "blocked toilet" for instance (presumably because they're looking for some good tips on how to unblock their toilet!) and they end up reading a post about NSL Services having disgusting toilets in their Westminster base A lot of people become aware of the campaign in this way, which is great.

Hello,
I am pretty new to UK. I am planning to vote for the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea on the 6th of May. Do you know the most friendly candidate for No To Bike Parking Tax or how and whether my vote can help No To Bike Parking Tax ?
Thanks,
Tim
