On Saturday the 10th March we have our next demo ride at Trafalgar Square.

arrive 11:30 @ Villiers street for 12:00 noon departure

please post reports, videos, photos and feedback below

Taking place on Saturday 10th March, and leaving our adopted HQ of Villiers Street at 12.00 noon sharp, a slow cavalcade of bikes will ride out to Harefield in Hertfordshire to the HQ of the Hillingdon Narrowboats Association (www.hna.org.uk), for whom Eddy was a major supporter & fund-raiser.

Roger Ashmore, HNA executive, has invited you all to come & view the narrowboats themselves that were so close to Eddy’s heart. Following a few words in tribute to Eddy, Roger has offered to take a small group out for a canal cruise. Numbers will be limited to the 12 per boat, and dependent on how many of the three boats are available that day.

At time of writing, all 3 have been reserved exclusively for NTBPT-ers, so if you do want to take advantage of this incredibly generous offer, please let us know asap so your place can be booked. Remember, associations like this rely on donations & bookings, so if you can find a small sum for their cause, please bring it along.

Similarly, some of you may have thought about hiring a narrowboat but never got around to doing so. What better opportunity to experience the pleasures of canal boating.

NB:- we aim to use our time at Hillingdon as a pit stop. Whilst there is a canteen, Roger has suggested we bring our own refreshments.

I hope there's a good turnout for this. I would be there but have already been committed to acting as a responsible adult for the day at another event. Damn!

I'll be there thumbsup

Having a relative who owned a narrow boat I can recommend a trip on one. You get a completely diferent perspective!

I will be interested in a place for the trip but will only take a place if one is spare after everyone else is catered for.

Got a mate with a narrow boat.  We went for a trip on it to the pub and it was one of the best days...

Count me in.  Might bring the missus too.

Just an idea.
Can you post the route up, so late comers can catch up, or people can join on route.

If I had it I would do, at a guess I would have thought the A40(M) and turn right at Denham would be the route once we get out of the center of town would be most logical.  But hopefully the official route will be posted at some point.

Having learned at Eddy's funeral how much narrowboats had meant to him, this seems an ideal way of remembering him. In fact, some of us actually spoke with Roger Ashmore at the pub, after the service, and he was saying then that if any of us wanted to pay a visit to the marina, we'd be welcome: it's great to see the way that initial suggestion of his appears to have blossomed into this.  clapping thumbsup

Looking forward to it  thumbsup

This should be good day out; my family has enjoyed that bit of the canal for years, up to the nature reserve and Batchworth Locks where the narrowboat & waterways people do great work in maintaining a part of our national heritage. Always a good destination for a ride-out (it's in Middlesex BTW, not Herts) and I can recommend the boat trip. Definitely in my diary!

It's just up the road from me, but it's always well worth heading up to the Batcave first. Let's make this a great turnout, firstly in memory of Eddy, but also in support of the other worthy causes: NTBPT and the Hillingdon Narrowboats Association.

Who knows - it could become an annual event in the NTBPT calendar..?
