As soon as the WCC guys have finished replacing "enhanced" signs, it looks like the Captain has decided to give them a bit of make-up again!  ROTFL

This is really important!

Spread the message

As quick as these signs get cleaned up they are being defaced again and again!
At something like £151.48p a set plus labour, how long before Westminster residents get pissed off at this useless waste of their money?
I heard a rumour that over 50 locations were hit in one night this weekend.... that's £7,574 in materials alone!
In addition  all the time they are defaced they are losing money from Parking fees!

Definitely the right time to own a signing company in London!
Westminster TranServe (the company they use) must be rubbing their hands with glee!

And note that the replacement sign that was used makes the bay for motorcycle use 7 days a week; not just Mon - Sat as the previous sign did.  On Sundays cars will now not be able to park there between 7am - 7pm = more space for bikes!

I don't know if this was an error, done on purpose or was a result of them running out of the correct signs.

hold on a sec, if the sign dosn't match the TMO then regarless of if it's "enhanced" or not would it not be invalid for the purpose of enforcement?

That's what I was thinking...but then they're going to have to take it down anyway as it's been 'boned again.

This is the wonderful thing, WCC are about to introduce a permanent order based on and old TMO which really they need to have another consultation period, but they wont.

So what is stopping everyone grabing a spray can or something a little more volatile

I just luv their childish mistakes. ROTFL

With quality 'intelligence reports' it should be possible for the Captain to follow the Transerv truck at a discreet distance; restoring the balance.

Re extending period bike parking bays are active i.e. all week not just Mon to Sat it could be a mistake/saving their paint for more signs, but I reckon more likely to be a sop & Westminster attempt to show how 'nice' & caring they are about bikers & scooter riders.  Sad

I dunno, I've a strong feeling they've run out of signs.
I think the Transerv crew that went out on Friday took all the signs that were available in the depot and ran out of the correct ones for zone F.
I estimate about 100 - 150 top signs in the West End need to be replaced. 1 in 4 of all signs, not bad but room for improvement.
It'll be interesting to see how many signs are still Rathboned on Monday morning - they were replacing them on Sundays last year.

Perhaps forum members who work in the West End can mention, on Monday evening, whether their bay's sign is clean or painty.

The ink seems to barely have dried on Chalkleys decision to make this farce official when a reply seems to have been posted on the streets around Westminster's headquarters in Victoria!

This is just a small selection... I got seriously bored photographing wrecked signs!

There were lots of examples over Pimlico way too by an artist using a lovely bright white paint.. looked almost like gigantic blobs of bird shit!

Round Victoria you say, I hope then that councillors hang their heads in shame as they pass these signs on their way into city hall.

Only to polish Alastair's knob as would be the usual Monday morning ritual.

After all, gilchrist can't complain about the defacing, the extra expenditure now required can only help toward the "revenue-neutral" situation that they bullshitted the other muppet councillors with......oops, wait a minute...they're already over budget...well, its expensive running a fiefdom for alastair.

Gosh, lets hope that Cap.n Rathbone doesn't extend his activities to the car bay signs as well!!

Indeed, the painting of any sign that an enforcement officer might take a picture of (to back up a parking fine) would be a serious matter.

Loading Bay signs, Resident Parking Only signs, Car Club Only signs. All would prevent WCC Parking Dept. from raising desperately needed revenue, lower CEO/PCO morale, heighten public awareness & win support for changes to parking law.

With an election coming up, does anyone know of Chalkley, Gilchrist etc's intentions re: standing for election again? Because I think at this stage it is absolutely fair game for us to campaign against them. Properly. With the open, stated aim to prevent re-election on grounds of fraudulent activities, and working against the interests of residents in the WCC area.

It might also help us get in councillors who are on our side. Much as I personally don't vote Labour, they would scrap the charge straight away.

Could I make a plea that RESIDENT bays do NOT get rathboned; it's hard enough finding a parking spaces for us Residents as it is, and we have had to pre-pay for the privilege of maybe finding a space, usually quite a way from where we live.  As such, rathboning a Resident bays would not deprive WCC of any income.  Residents might also blame the bikers, and so might be tempted to vote for the party that would keep the tax!?
