NOW CONFIRMED BY POPULAR REQUEST
Just a quick update to confirm that there will be a rideout on the 4th September especially arranged for the L plate riders! The MEN IN BLUE will be guiding the riders safely through the maze of t/lights, junctions and roadworks!
The route will be confirmed in the next few days and will defo take us around the North Circular road all the way into central London past the Tower of London. The final home for the WCC thieves if we have our way!
Let me stress that although this is being arranged for the L plate riders....ALL ARE WELCOME!!!!! This is our way of thanking the L plate riders for their support at all the demos! Let's show WCC what we think of this vile and unjust tax!
Should set us up nicely for the big one on the 25th September!
Lots more info to come so watch this thread!

Hey Guys newbie here! Glad this ride for the "L plate riders" is taking place so I can finally join in if I can get the day off work! Just a couple of quick questions as this would be my first time on anything like this and I've only been riding for about 2 months on a Yamaha Maxster scooter. What's the route? I live in Ealing so I need to make sure wherever we are I can easily find my way home (it's never pleasant being lost How long are we going to be out for as in what time we may finish? Also where can I get one of them NTBPT high viz's? Keep up the Good work and hopefully see you @ the Ace Cafe on September 4th!

What "popular request" ? I particularly asked for you NOT to do it on a Saturday. Sorry Earl Purple, I simply cannot resist . . . "You clearly aren't popular enough!" And, having made that cheap shot at you, please make yourself known to me at the next opportunity and I'll buy the bacon butties* and coffees! EDIT: In light of Catwoman's comment two posts further down . . , *(or other snack of your choice)

What "popular request" ? I particularly asked for you NOT to do it on a Saturday. There were many factors that went into selecting the date not least of which was agreeing it with the Met police events team. Prior to the meeting with the Met I was of the impression that this would most likely be occurring on the 5th rather than the 4th so I can only assume that the 4th was selected at the Mets request, although for what reason I can not say. I understand that your not able to take part on Saturdays and regret that you won't be able to join us however I would point out that many of the other large scale events we have done have not been on Saturdays (the most recent ones being the court case and the decision from the court case both of which were mid week) and that there is a weekly event at Trafalgar square. So while it is regrettable that you have been unable to join us for the 2 upcoming large scale events not all of our events have been on days which preclude you from attending. Unfortunately what ever day we pick there will be someone who can't attend for one reason or another, it's regrettable but an unfortunate fact of life. As I say there are however the Wednesday meets every week which it would be great to see you at & hopefully we will have some other events for the calender once the M25 run is out of the way.

@ Maxter125: Wherever we end up, I'll be quite happy to escort you safely home (or to a point from which you're happy too make your own way home). I will almost certainly be leaving the end point and goint back to my home via the Hangar Lane doughnut. I will send you a pm with my mobile phone number so that you can find me at either the Ace or at the end of the ride.

What "popular request" ? I particularly asked for you NOT to do it on a Saturday. @Coco I think there was a good reason why Earl Purple cannot make it on Saturday in light of which this: I'll buy the bacon butties
might not be the most appropriate choice of snack to offer C.W.

For those of you concerned as to why the date was changed to the 4th; http://www.met.police.uk/events/index.htm#sept5On Sunday 5th September 2010, a mass bike ride is due to take place within the City of Westminster and City of London involving about 60,000 cyclists taking part throughout the day. So logistically our Run was severely clashing with this. Sorry to all who cannot make the 5th, we hope to see you at the WMBC/WESC ! NM

As this event will not be flyered/leafleted please folks spread the word about this one, its an oppurtunity for the L platers to really show your support to the campaign, and of course ALL ARE WELCOME (even those big bike bully boys) to chaperone the Scooters! SEE YOU ALL SOON!

Just dropped the route into Google Maps = 34 miles.
I know the link is long but if you paste it all it should work.

Oh I like that, I like that alot. I'll definitely try and come along for this now, sounds good and I'll get flyering the bikes... wait is there a flier for this run?
Just a suggestion off the top of my head, tourists love us, we love us, trafalgar square loves us. Why not a route along embankment, turn right onto northumberland and go VIA trafalagar square, salute Nelson and his buddies (and the tourists) (a salute being going around the roundabout ONCE.) and then off down whitehall and continue the route via parliarment square etc etc...?
Obviously there may be a reason why you specifically haven't done this but I'm just curious

I expect if we try and go around TS once we'll get all confused as to what's the start/end of the bike parade and be circling all day until we get bored.

We never get bored of TS! Picadilly is just a stone's throw away. But I do see your point and did see it while posting, I don't think the queen would like us going up her road and whitehall wouldn't either, but it has to make the most of the roundabout really, maybe the idea is just a dead one in the water

Yes you are correct, there is a big event in T/S that day, and so the Police said we can not go to T/S. The Police will NOT provide any escort and are very happy that we are organizing and marshaling this run by ourselves. Our Starting place, time, route, finishing place and time have been submitted to them and has been approved. So we strongly suggest we keep to it, and keep the good relationship/trust we have with them. As for the Flyers........ there is non. (unless you want to do some yourself)
