Thought you guys might like to see this email we received from Danny trying to muster opposition to our demos. You may note that the very same Society of London Theatres are the ones now being quoted in the Evening Standard as furious at Danny's latest initiative. So, Society of London Theatres, how do you feel at slating us??? Dear Mr Djanogly
Planned motorcycle demonstration in the West End on Monday 11th May
We are writing to express our disappointment that your planned demonstration on Monday 11th May is still, at this stage, going ahead.
Alongside Westminster City Council, a number of major businesses and organisations in Westminster including Covent Garden London, Heart of London Business Alliance, New West End Company, the Regent Street Association and Shaftesbury PLC all have an interest in working together to maintain and develop a strong business environment and residential community in the West End.
As such, we are of the view that it is entirely inappropriate to cause "mayhem" in the West End and "lay siege to London", especially at a time of global recession.
Indeed, your demonstration on Monday and the inevitable disruption it will cause will have a serious impact on West End businesses in terms of lost revenue and trade.
It will also clearly impact on the hundreds of thousands of commuters, tourists, and residents in the West End, the vast majority of whom will not welcome your protest and have no wish to have their daily lives disrupted by your actions.
In the light of these concerns we hope that you will urgently reconsider your plans for Monday and call off this demonstration.
Yours sincerely,
Heart of London Business Alliance London Chamber of Commerce and Industry New West End Company Regent Street Association Shaftesbury PLC Society of London Theatres Westminster City CouncilSource: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23797528-council-plans-to-scrap-free-evening-parking-in-west-end.do

Got hold of the later edition BBC London clip featuring Richard Pulford, spokesman for The Society of London Theatres saying “To tax the late night economy further is entirely a retrograde step and foolish” Would it be too cruel to post it up on YouTube ?

I remember contacting the "New West End Company" a long time ago but they didn't seem to care about the parking tax.

Nutsville, I agree it could make an excellent YouTube item, however, as you know I am a complete technophobe.....when I posted the link, I can assure you all it went to the relevant story, but now when I click on it, it just goes to a kinda home-page.
If anyone can re-link to the story where Ricgard Pulford is quoted, please affix a link
Thx

Ogri, I bow to your perseptiveness - whilst my name may be on the door of this campaign, it would be nought without the help of so many are willing to give of their abundant skills in so many areas. However, if 1frog spotted it first but you pushed the "post" button whilst he was still translating from his native tongue.....then please re-read this posting as...1Frog, I bow to your.....

I'll stick Richard Pulford up tomorrow, but right now I'm re-editing Chalkley's TV interview. He's now correctly telling the viewers that it is all about revenue raising, it will probably be the only time you'll see chalkley tell the truth. But Richard Pulford looks familiar

Thrown my tuppenceworth onto the standard. Anyone thought about contacting all these people again and saying 'support the legal fund, we make all this go away. They'll just bulldoze it through and say fuck you lot!'

Just spoke with Chairman & have agreed to help prepare an appropriately powerful but carefully worded letter to all in London bizz community who are now up in arms about parking charge rises – but were duped by DC into regarding as a nuisance and being 'disappointed' about our stand against parking taxes. There is a beautiful twist for us in my view here and a superb opportunity for us to cease being a 'nuisance' and as I've said in third para of latest blog, we can not only gather more serious support from mainstream bods with clout, but NoTo riders could become the knights in shining armour to save the West End from the evil robber barons in WCC town hall! http://www.crossroadsrider.com

For what it's worth I added my comment to the Standards article which basically said 'serve you right for allying yourself with WCC in the first place'.
