The campaign thus far has been gathering pace and I thought I would post the progress.

Warren and I had a very encouraging meeting with Stephen Pound MP at Portcullis House,House of Commons on Tuesday 22nd December and he along with Karen Buck MP have agreed to support our campaign for a Demand for a public inquiry.Stephen is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Motorcycle Group and Karen as a labour Westminster constituency MP.
See below for email from Stephen Pound.

Dear Warren,
Thanks for this and I was pretty much astounded by what I heard.
Karen, as a Westminster MP, is the best person to "lead" on this but we'll work closely together and you have my unqualified support.
Best to you and to Graeme,
 Steve.

There is of course the Demand for a public inquiry, which you all helped deliver to the DCLG and I can tell you that John Denham MP and John Healey MP and Rosie Winterton MP all at the DCLG have copies and hopefully we will hear more from them in the New Year.

Also you maybe aware the District Auditor for Westminster is still investigating WCC and hopefully will be back to us in January with his conclusion.

I have also instigated an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and have been given the case number EPIC/ENQ/E/75795 so now they have the OFT investigating them.

Of course there is also the small matter of the EU investigation and they require answers by the 20th January.

Lastly I would like to thank our chairman Warren who has worked so hard on our campaign for over a year now and feel we will defeat this tax under his leadership and bring WCC and their partners at PIP to account for their actions.
It would seem that an awful lot of councillors and local government officers should re-equate themselves with the definition of “Public Servants” and we will remind them of this in the New Year.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

Yeah well done all, that Karen Buck has a bit of get up and go in her, so it's looking good.

It will be an interesting 2010 for everyone  popcorn

Well done and thanks freeparkingwarrior - it all sounds remarkably encouraging. None of this would have been possible without you and we're very grateful.

Further up the chain...
Perhaps Al Qa'ieda. They could issue a fatwah on Gilchrist, Toad & Chalky.  Evil

Steve Pound is my local MP: he seems to have considerable integrity and is fairly well respected locally, especially as he was untarnished in the expenses scandal. Certainly one of the better ones that Labour have to offer! Hope that he can come through for us!

The challenge has now gone considerably wider and potentially involves all pay-by-phone parking. So are there any car groups that can be tapped up for money for the legal challenge?

I think once the court papers are lodged we will attract more money from other interested parties who will see this as a tangible opportunity to take a stand against WCC.

Was yesterday (20th Jan 2010) the deadline for the UK Government to reply to the EU Commission? Has anyone seen the reply?

THIS IS BRILLIANT... You've made my day, freeparkingwarrior! dancing

Excellent perseverence. And that's how it works, the more you persevere, the more chance you get what you want out of these public bodies. Absolutely brilliant.
