"Westminster council has now fixed the £15 million digital network of cameras, increasing the pixellation, at a cost of £495,000 and had them re-certificated.The software was also upgraded at an extra cost of £330,000."and i wound where he got the extra money for this upgrade........ "Danny Chalkley, Westminster's cabinet member for city management, said: “We have sought a fairer approach to parking enforcement and are committed to getting it right first time round. CCTV is an effective tool in ensuring this happens."Fairer......what's fair about being spyed on by CCTV. ? bugger if i can see it.

Seriously scary shit. This really is further proof of the beginning of the end of our civil liberties. Orwell was right of course. F..k Chalky and his cronies- and all the other politician c..ts who are responsible for this. I hope they all get run over by a bus. Slowly.

Ah, so it seems they have fixed the links!
However, be warned, not ALL of the Westminster CCTV locations are shown on those maps! I'm sure there are others, given that I know of one which is NOT shown! I have written to WCC telling them about it not being on their maps, too!
Background I was given a PCN based on this CCTV, three or four years ago. I stopped for literally 3 minutes, in a space which is 'sheltered' from the road, i.e. the pavement juts out just after it so it cannot be driven on, so cannot ['fairly'] be considered to be blocking any traffic, to load/unload *directly* outside my flat, as there were no available Residents' spaces free. That's how FAIR some of these CCTV PCNs are, as a CEO would not have issued a PCN! I *would* have challenged it, but as it was my company car and the PCN goes direct to the Leasing Company -> my Company, they just pay it straight away (ching, ching, WCC) and then charge the driver (me) both the PCN fee, plus an Admin fee!! I told my Company that I wanted it challenged and the fine recovered, and asked for a permission letter from them to do so (and also I did pay them anything), but they didn't bother to do anything about it, and as it was not my car, that was that! Ok, rant over!!

The Hyde park map is still down, heavens forbid they actually do the full job, they probably thought they would post most of them to appease us in the short term only to revoke the lot down the line when the heats off...

The signs saying CCTV in operation are very small which could be basis for an appeal BUT CoW have done a lot of work in the past few months of adding large CCTV signs at the entrace to every CPZ something they had negated to do up until very recently.

I totally agree, the CCTV signs are tiny. I just had a look at the photos on Nutsville where you can see just how small they are: Councils CCTV switch-on, off to a shaky start

What is really irksome is that they either put up small signs to be devious or if this wasn't the case, put up small signs as having the same large ones as at the entrace to CPZs would look unsightly, alarming and undermine what is left of public trust

Yes, when it comes to Danny Chalkley and Westminster City Council, that is one thing we can be sure of!

I can see the great Captain armed with a high pressure nozzle and a good aim doing some art on the lenses..........Bearing in mind as a member of the general public, I am now frowned upon when taking out my camera in public areas (must be a terrorist)
