Excellent!
And please add any officers that also should be CC'ed too, (the equivalent of Goad, Gilchrist and one-size)

Let's bombard Camden Council with thousands of emails then, they'll love it
(and I'll love sending them emails too
). These guys must understand that if they even think about charging bikes to park, they'll see us coming their way and make their lives a complete nightmare.
At least, it will give us something to do once we've sorted out WCC!
I was worried I would get bored afterwards
But just one thing, if we kill Verrus in Westminster via the European Commission, DCLG and District Auditor, and PiP is dead as a result, how is Camden going to trial the pay by phone system that they were supposed to get from PiP?

I've got a reply from Sam Monck (Head of Street Planning / Transport etc.)
Jeez.. to paraphrase Dorothy Gale.." I don't think we're in Westminster any more."
"Dear Mr Ogri,
Thanks for your email to Councillor Knight yesterday asking about Camden’s plans for any charging for motorcycle parking.
The short answer is that
we intend to look at the whole issue at some point next year, workloads allowing.
This follows a recommendation from the borough’s Sustainability Task Force report to the Executive in March 2008, the relevant extract given below.
28.
That the Executive ask officers to introduce pay and display parking charges for motorcycle bays
, a reduced price residents’ bay parking permit where the owner has passed the advanced motorcycle test, and a free residents’ bay parking permit for electric motorcycles if the owner also has a renewable energy permit at home.
To require officers to explore the proposal for the introduction of pay and display parking charges for motorcycle bays and free residents’ bay parking permits for electric motorcycles if the owner also has a renewable energy permit at home. Officers should report to Executive (Environment) Sub Group on plans to consult on detailed proposals. To also require officers to consider introducing a further discount for people who have passed advanced motorcycle tests.
So no decisions have been taken and the
work needed next year would need to cover both the principle of whether Camden would want to charge
at all, and if this was proposed all of the details and practicalities about how such a system might work, what would be on offer,
how it might tie in to Westminster’s existing system
, and indeed any proposals from other neighbouring authorities, and so on.
At present we therefore have no fixed idea of any of this.
Any proposals to change from the existing system
would of course involve public consultation, and we would expect considerable interest and input from motorcyclists as well as others.
I hope this is helpful – albeit that it is necessarily vague at the moment since we have not begun the exploratory work in this area at all. "
They're obviously at a very early stage if they're considering Pay & Display as a means of payment. Poor lambs, they have no idea the shit-storm they are striding towards do they ?
On the whole though, judging by the fact that their reply was swift, apparently honest and personal, I think we might be dealing with a slightly more approachable council.
I've given Mr Monck a link to the NTBPT website's mission statement and asked him to spare the time to have a look around the site especially at the video section - to guage the degree of opposition.

Vespa, can you get the email form to Camden Council on the website asap please, I think they need about 7,000 emails invading their inbox right now to make sure they even don't start their preliminary work on this. They'll then have a feel for what they can expect should they dare to introduce parking charges for bikes in their borough.

Latest email from Sam Monck:
"Dear Mr Ogri,
Thanks for the response and the weblink.
Whatever decision and potential scheme we recommend we intend it to be evidence based so useful to be able to feed the website in up front. No doubt we will correspond again when we reach the consultation stages.
Sam Monck
Head of Public Realm & Transport Policy"
Can this thread be moved, surely it's on-topic ? If it were up to me I'd stickify it so newcomers can see that NTBPT is not scaremongering:
the tax IS spreading

Camden Council just have no idea of the hell they will experience should they ever consider charging for motorcycle parking... They should ask their Westminster colleagues what it's like to deal with thousands of angry bikers on a daily basis.
I think we need to start emailing these Camden Councillors right now, to give them an idea of what to expect if they dare to treat us like cash cows. I'm sure they would love to receive 7,000+ emails!

I think emails may not be enough, is there a way we can work a demo route through camden. Maybe assemble in/near camden and go through it on our way to Westminster?
There are people who can't be bothered.or don't have the timeto send 50/60 emails, but would have the time to take a planned detour through scamden. Just the once, until they announce plans, but enough to make them take notice. WCC have proven that a few thousand emails can be brushed under the carpet, but not a few thousand barking exhausts.....

It gets even worse. Below is a link to Camden Council Annual Parking and Enforcement Report 2009
http://democracy.camden.gov.uk/alfresco/guestDownload/direct/workspace/SpacesStore/36d78527-b199-11de-a102-c7274c4b7dc5/2009-10-06-Item%2009A%20-%20%20Annual%20Parking%20and%20Enforcement%20Report%202009-Executive%20%28Environment%29%20Sub-Group.pdf
Taken from that report:-
"ANNEX 1: ANNUAL PARKING AND ENFORCEMENT REPORT 2009
127Pay by phone parking and other PIP related projects
128
Partners in Parking (PiP) is led by the City of Westminster in partnership with TfL, LB Camden, City of London, LB Islington, LB Lambeth and RB Kensington & Chelsea. PiP members are collaborating to harmonise parking equipment, services, controls and practices so that there is a more consistent customer experience both within areas covered by individual authorities, and to its partners through the buying power of group procurements.
3.3.2.Projects or procurement framework agreements that Camden is either working on, or will evaluate in the future include:
·Pay by phone. Several central London boroughs have some form of cashless or pay by phone parking in place. In the next year Camden will be investigating introducing pay by phone in the borough.
·Persistent Evaders. New legislation (Part 5 of the London LocalAuthorities and Transport for London Act 2008) gives London authorities additional powers to deal with persistent evaders (a vehicle registered to akeeper that has at least three PCNs outstanding). Authorities’ taking upthe powers will be able to take enforcement action against a stationary vehicle belonging to a persistent evader on a road in Greater London, whether or not it is in contravention. London Councils is running a pilot project with City of Westminster, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, and TfL.The pilot is looking to set up a cross borough database of persistent evaders. No decision has been taken by Camden whether to take up these powers.
·Procurement contracts. PiP procurement arrangements will be considered when Camden renews some of its contracts in future, such as thoserelating to parking stationery contract and on-street pay & display equipment contract. The Pre Debt Management contract (that City ofWestminster has in place) will be considered as an option by the wider Council debt recovery project being led by the Finance Team."
So it would appear they are to implement nearly all PIP framework agreement contracts including the infamous Verrus UK pay by phone.

Perfect, they will be subject to the same investigation as for Westminster.
Hopefully, once the EU Commission etc have completed their investigations, PiP will be dead so Westminster and other councils like Camden will have to do all the work again from scratch!
And yes, I agree, we need to extend the next demo to Camden to make sure they get an idea of what they can expect in future from us if they follow Westminster's lead.

... although when Camden find out the sh*t Westminster are now in, they may back down... but this time, we must stop them right from the discussion stage, not start the action against them once they start charging.

With appropriate leafletting to explain to the poor residents that their Council are as money-grubbing as Wastemonster, that PiP is under investigation and that the Verrus system is shite.
With the public & media furore over the doctor unable to park on his own property, Scamden is ripe for some attention.
This 'persistent evader' bollocks is also worrying. The aforementioned doctor could have had his vehicle crushed by now 10 times over for the 30 outstanding tickets. Again Wastemonster is in the running and this enforcement of unpaid penalties, issued by the most corrupt and cheating CEOs (as advertised on Nutsville) is a further gross distortion of the powers of de-regulated Council enforcement.

Everyone remember the 'you're next' campaign leaflets? I seem to remember the dominoes reading: WCC, Camden, you.....
